Comments:	DANCERS WANTED We are currently looking for dancers, both male and female, for Mathew Knowles’ new Latin sensation, Miredys. You will be auditioning to perform at the People en Español Fiesta Caliente 2007 on October 6th in New York. We are looking for great dancers, who are energetic and have some training. Dancers of all ethnicities are welcomed and should be between the ages of 18 and 25. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007 from 3pm – 8pm. If chosen as a dancer for the show, you will need to attend 6 rehearsals in late September to learn the dance routines. More information about rehearsals & show will be provided at the auditions. This is a great opportunity to be a part of an amazing show. Dancers that are selected will be considered for future shows with Miredys. It may sound cheesy but if it wasn't for Omega Phi Beta I would not be in my career, I would not be as confident as I am today, and I would not have had the opportunity to meet a remarkable group of women. I have had the opportunity to continue to expand our organization and offer that sisterhood support to women at SUNY Plattsburgh. Comments:	Sometimes I feel like an island, being what is considered an "old head," but two events this weekend reminded me how much my life is and continues to be intertwined with OPB. The Dallas Stroll Show - Thank You Ladies for looking for me to be involved. I really thought I couldn't do our call anymore, and who would've thought I left with a sore throat, exhililarated by the gold, enraptured with the green and held close by the black. I felt so proud that even though we didn't come first place, Dallas had the pleasure of meeting some phenomenal women with an understanding of our struggle as a people, a knowledge of our culture and our drive as a Latino Nation. And then Sunday came with another viewing of what type of sisters I have. Wow. Jess, I remember. And Julie - they did show one of your comments - and insightful it was. With each win comes a new challenge to be consistent in victory and honor. Comments:	I first heard of your organization through a co-worker (who it should be said, impressed me with her intelligence, kind heart and spirit from the minute I met her). As friends do, over time she has shared pictures from weddings and events that she had attended and I was always shocked at how many of her sorors were in every picture and actually still friends beyond graduation. Then the other night I was watching TV and I saw your sorority on MTV. Seeing the way the women in your organization carried themselves, on MTV’s True Life: I’m On a Step Team, through all of the hate and drama that they experienced… truly made me proud to be Latina. Personally, it was the first time that I have seen a show spotlight Latinos in a COMPLETELY positive way and give them time to explain that the members of your organization all professional working women, who graduated from college and go on to obtain advanced degrees. It really made me feel good as a young Puerto Rican woman (who isn’t Greek), for our people to be recognized for something other than J-Lo or Ricky Martin! I was pleasantly surprised that the media outlet didn't bastardize it and gave your organization the avenue to truly project what an educated and progressive people we are. 20 years ago none of what the women on that show did would have been possible. You are breaking down doors for our daughters one day walk through and continue to blaze the trail that you have started. It was more than a step show, I get that. More importantly, the behaviors displayed and impressions made (on those watching) by the members of that team, not only embodied our daily struggles on a smaller scale, but helped to reach a new and separate level of achievement. HOPEFULLY if the team continues to cross over into the traditionally Black step shows, they will be able to bridge some of the gap that is ever present between Blacks and Latinos. It hurt my heart to see the Zetas hate so hard because we truly have shared history and struggle, especially when you are talking about the Latinos from the island nations. We all share some of the same struggles, discrimination, history, and are fighting for the same common goal. I love the fact that your girls acted as ladies despite the disrespect and maintained such a swagger and confidence about their abilities. That was amazing and it surprised me that MTV even bothered to show it because of the lack of drama. Knowing Jackie definitely "legitimized" your sorority in my eyes (for lack of a better term) because, just like with every other Greek organization, you make the letters... they SHOULD NEVER make you and I saw that in her, but it is good to see that really seems to be a common goal in your organization and its members as a whole. Comments:	I watched last night the MTV True Life show. I am a black woman with many family members in soroities and fraternities and am very proud for the accomplishments that you all have made. I believe that all people of color should support one another. You all made history just like the black fraternities and sororitites made history in the 1900s and should never be critize for it. I hope that your accomplishments and showcase on national television will be an eye opener to all of the black greek system that they need to learn to accept change like individuals accpeted them as a change.
