New York, NY -June 16, 2007 - Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (OPBSI) announce the launch of their 1st “S.O.S: Summer of Service” community campaign. Throughout the summer season, the members of OPBSI will participate in serving the community with various volunteer opportunities that will benefit organizations including, but not limited to, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), Amnesty International, and Grace Institute.

More than a quarter of our membership is estimated to participate. “A large number of our members are increasingly active throughout the summer, as it is a time to relax and unwind, as well as time off from school. Our goal was to provide volunteer opportunities that are fun and with little time commitment and most of all that benefits such worthy organizations”, says Betty Diaz, OPBSI’s Director of Community Service. The S.O.S campaign will provide unique volunteer opportunities for OPBSI and friends, while enriching the community. Whether it is a simple click on the computer (i.e. donating online, purchasing items to benefit a worthy cause, etc.), placing a box in their office/home where family and friends can donate supplies, or even a one-time event where service is needed, members will be able to select which service project is most convenient for them.

“We hope the success of this launch will not only benefit the community, but show our membership, it is not the quantity of the time given but the quality, and it can be easy and fun”, says Betty Diaz
