NEW YORK, New York… May 22, 2008. Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated would like to formally congratulate our very own Jenice Marie Diaz for being crowned Miss Puerto Rico – National Puerto Rican Parade 2008 on May 17, 2008. Jenice Marie Diaz will represent Miss Puerto Rico – NPRP 2008 on June 8, 2008 at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City.

Jenice M. Diaz competed among many young Latina women in the Miss Puerto Rico - NPRP pageant consisting of a private interview, swimsuit and evening gown competition, and an on stage interview. According to NPRP, Inc. this opportunity affords young Latina women to learn about their roots, develop pride in their culture, language and heritage. As Miss Puerto Rico - NPRP, Diaz has not only been awarded a trip to Puerto Rico, $1,000 cash prize, and title of Queen of the next National Puerto Rican Day parade, but most importantly the opportunity to help educate, address, and empower young Latina women all over the nation. Diaz states, “I feel very blessed and humbled to have won. Being a Sister of OPBSI has taught me the importance and foundation of perseverance and empowerment as a Latina woman, my hopes are to continue to empower and serve others as a proud Latina and proud Boricua.”

Jenice Marie Diaz is a model and has competed in pageants for the last few years. She is a Sister of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated at Upsilon Chapter - Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
