New York, NY...November 8, 2007. Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) and La Unidad Latina/Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. have joined forces to launch a 10 day nationwide fundraising campaign in an effort to collect funds to support the Dominican Republic and neighboring country, Haiti's recent storm, caused by Tropical Storm Noel. The 10 for 10 Campaign encourages everyone to donate $10 towards the cause for the next 10 days beginning today, Thursday, November 8, 2007 and concluding on Saturday, November 17, 2007. All funds will be donated to the Dominican Foundations of Sports in New York.

During the ten days of the fundraising campaign, the two organizations will engage their members nationwide to collect monetary donations for the sole purpose of helping those residing on the island of Hispaniola who have been devastated by this disaster.

News reports show that Tropical Storm Noel, now strengthened into a hurricane (category 1) last week, has killed over 100 people in the Caribbean. In addition, nearly 30 people were reported missing. Several thousand people were driven from their homes and many have been left without homes. Noel (Hurricane) is expected to reach the northeast, specifically Nova Scotia, Canada.

The purpose of OPBSI is to serve and educate people of diverse backgrounds through sisterhood, leadership, and guidance. As positive role models, we promote unity of all cultures, focus on the empowerment of our gender and raise the standards of excellence in our academic, social, and personal endeavors.
