OPBSI Charters Two New Collegiate Chapters
September 13, 2007...Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (OPBSI) is proud to announce the induction of our newest collegiate chartered chapters: Chi Chapter at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, and Psi Chapter at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. OPBSI’s collegiate chartering process requires colonized collegiate entities to fulfill specific national and campus standards, confirming their ability to sustain our organizational goals, longevity, and communal commitment in their local community. This summer, the Colonies at Seton Hall University and DePauw University both demonstrated their fulfillment of these standards and officially garnered full chapter status. First colonized in 2003 by two women, Jane Sanchez and Janneris Geraldo, Chi Chapter is the second OPBSI entity in New Jersey and the fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Today, the Chapter is represented by class generations of alumni and collegiate members who continue to serve and educate the Seton Hall Community and its surrounding community. First colonized in 2006 by four women, Gloris Estrella, Veronica Diaz, Melyna Hernandez, and Norma Villanueva, Psi Chapter is the first OPBSI entity in Indiana and sixth in the Western Upstate NY and Midwest Region. Today, the Chapter works to create and cultivate a campus community environment where women of distinct backgrounds can come together as a family and support one another. The purpose of OPBSI is to serve and educate people of diverse backgrounds through sisterhood, leadership, and guidance. As positive role models, we promote unity of all cultures, focus on the empowerment of our gender and raise the standards of excellence in our academic, social, and personal endeavors.
