The Board of Trustees of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are excited to announce their kickoff event for the Annual Ray of Hope Walk as a cocktail benefit hosted on Wednesday, September 30 at 6:00pm- 8:00pm located at Summit Bar, 133 Avenue C (Manhattan).

The Ray Hope Walk to End Violence Against Women was created as a direct response to help raise awareness of a global epidemic affecting the lives of women, children, and families. Every 15 seconds a woman is physically assaulted by an intimate partner. In the United States, over 22 million women have been victims of sexual assault in their lifetime.

“The objective of the walk is to shed light on the various forms of violence against women and girls, while raising funds to assist organizations working towards ending gender based violence” stated Emma Torres, Director of Community Service.” We are excited that the Board of Trustees is hosting this event. This program and others like it are expected to draw more awareness to domestic violence and more positive interest toward the walk in October.”

The event will consist of an evening of passed hour devours combined with a flavorful cocktails and great Manhattan atmosphere. There will be some brief announcements from Omega Phi Beta’s national leadership along with a great raffle.

“In effort to gain more visibility for such an amazing cause, we’ve decided that a Cocktail Benefit would be the best fit! It will be an event for excellent networking opportunities and a great time for those who love raffles and wonderful company. Most importantly, we’d like for our communities to see the significance of the event. We must continue to educate each other on such a horrific issue in our society.” stated Christiana Boyce, Trustee.

The walk will feature various events designed to highlight the different forms of violence against women. The events will include a kick off ceremony, a rally celebrating the resilience of survivors and a community fair where participants will learn more about the realities of abuse and violence plaguing homes across the country. There will also be information about organizations that are committed to ending this global epidemic.

Advance tickets are on sale for $35.00 on OPBSI’s EventBrite
