Omega Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated is an organization of sisterhood, community service and leadership. The women I have come to know and care for as sisters have all proven through practice, the extent of their intelligence, dedication and loyalty, twelve fold. These past years have been filled with all the things a true family would encounter. Occasions filled with boundless pride, the excitements surrounding engagements, marriages and children, the sorrows of death and other tumultuous times that were weathered by the ingenuity of all our members. We have as a family endured and evolved, ready to embrace a radiant future, preparing ourselves for the journey that will continuously change but never end.

Being one of the founders affords me a unique perspective of the organization. To look back and see how we have grown is amazing, almost unimaginable. From seventeen women on one campus, Omega Phi Beta is now an organization with the ability to take action promoting philanthropic causes as we continue to teach and serve, expanding not only our own but other women’s horizons. A force to be reckoned with, we are no longer at the mercy of our “circumstances”, but in control of our potential destinies. Together we are stronger.

I am glad I cannot say our creation was easy. As a “Latina-Oriented” sorority, though our membership attests to a greater variety, we have worked hard for every inch gained, setting the standards our future sisters must uphold and surpass. Our motivation is that our hard work will serve as inspiration, for we all know that an organization is only as good as its future leaders and their dedication to upholding the traditions and mission set forth by the founders. Here we are, women from all walks of life, with different dreams, different professions and different cultures working toward a unified goal. That goal simply put, is to offer all women an opportunity to discover her potential, to be involved in and improve her community, to be an informed and active force in her day-to-day as well as the global world she is a part of, thus enabling her to become a catalyst for positive change in both her professional and personal endeavors.

I can honestly say, that I love and respect all the women that have come to be a part of Omega Phi Beta. Regardless of our debates or differences, we all have something unique and important to contribute. Every one of us able to add something special that wasn’t there before. As we continue to grow, our diversity will allow us to go places and do things we deem unattainable for now. But I advise all women interested in this sorority to take heed. Following in our footsteps will never be easy, but it will be one of the most rewarding experiences you will have.

My love for this organization cannot be distilled into a paragraph or a phrase. It is as strong as the love I have for myself, because Omega Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated sits at the core of who I am and its future holds the essence of what I hope to become.
