Steppin' Off to Unite Latinas or S.O.U.L. is a youth mentee group organized by the National Step Team of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Members of NST serve as role models and mentor S.O.U.L participants through the art of Stepping. While learning to step, S.O.U.L. participants also practice confidence, team building, creativity, friendships, dedication, and responsibility. More importantly, they are exposed to NST members who are college graduates and are making a difference in their respective communities.

Realizing the need for growth and the importance of giving back to our community, the Soul Steppin’ Divas decided to replicate their success of the art of stepping into a teaching platform for our younger generation. Under the leadership of Jessica Morales, Jennifer Carbone and Stephanie Talbott, all Alpha Chapter Alumnae, they worked together to launch their vision of a junior step team. After several inquiries, interested young ladies, and informational meetings held in New York City, the team was finally created with about 13 members. In 2002, our program became an affiliate of the National Step Team of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

With the solidification of two Soul Coordinators and an actual team, our members were ready to represent our mission through the art of stepping. Since then, the program has flourished as one of the most respected and admired junior step programs in New York City.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

Since 2003, the S.O.U.L. program has been able to draw young ladies through the program's initiatives and life learning benefits. If someone is interested in joining S.O.U.L., she must contact the co-coordinators Jessica Toro and Jessica Morales via email to SOUL@OmegaPhiBeta.org. A member must be within the ages of 13 and 18, attending school, and intend to further her education (apply to high school/college). In addition, an annual informational meeting is held each summer for interested steppers and parents/guardians to get a better understanding of our program.
