Chapter History

On April 7th, 2001, the Radiance of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. illuminated three dedicated and determined women of various backgrounds. By overcoming the pain and struggle, those women, Janet Retto, Erica Velasquez, and Jessie Wyers had successfully established a new colony at MSU - the first colony/chapter in the Midwest.

The sacrifice began in the spring semester of 2000 when Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc gained interests at Michigan State University. Determining that they wanted to be part of an organization that promoted ethnicity, identity, leadership and scholastic achievement, these woman expressed their interest and began the long journey towards membership.

Guided by the women of our MU chapter in Buffalo, New York, on April 7, 2001 - three Betas graced the campus of Michigan State University, thus establishing the first colony of Omega Phi Beta in the midwest.

Using the training and support of our Mu chapter, the sisters at Michigan State University are continuing the Legacy that our founders created and so many Beta generations have upheld.
