Chapter History

In the Spring of 1997 the Radiant sorors of Epsilon Chapter guided two undergraduate women attending school in Boston, MA in helping Omega Phi Beta Sorority expand to New England. Jennifer 'Pensativa' Nelson and Michelle 'Nira' Minguez successfully became the chartering members of the Boston Colony. Both women, seniors, were inducted into Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. just weeks prior to graduation. Despite the dormant colony, the women of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. were confident that they had established roots in Boston and that their incredible feat would not soon be forgotten.

In the Spring of 2001, the revival of the Boston Colony came with the induction of Soror Gina 'Anianela' Rodriguez. The wait has been long but the dedication to the Colony has been undaunted and has proven to be strong in the face of adversity. With renewed energy, the roots of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.'s Boston Colony have risen to the challenges and hold much promise for continuing to solidify a home for the sorority in the Boston community.

During the following months, the Colony stuggled with only one undergraduate Sister, but persevered and accomplished much in just one year. As a result, the Colony was granted chapter status by the sorority in August 2002 and is now the Pi Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This was a long awaited goal of the Sisters of Pi Chapter, but the hard work and dedication proved to be well worth it.

Chapter Cause: Child Welfare
Late in the year of 2001, sisters in the Boston area realized that youth in the Boston area would greatly benefit from mentors with strong leadership and scholastic skills. They resolved to work with children and teenagers in underprivileged neighborhoods in order to educate them about important issues in the community and promote leadership skills.
