Fall 2005 - Soror Tiffany Brutus inducted into Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honour Society. Summer 2005 - Soror Marlene Neris 07 awarded highest GPA in Region 3 by the National Board of Directors. Spring 2006- Nu Chapter Awarded Most Improved Chapter by the Multicultural Greek Letter Council. Spring 2006 - Soror Kalina Black '07 awarded Outstanding New Member by Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. Spring 2006- Soror Kalina Black '07 awarded Diane OConner Award for Residential Advisor Excellence. Fall 2006 - Soror Tiffany Brutus '07 was voted one of Cornell University's Top 25 Most Influential Students. Spring 2007- Soror Marlene Neris '07 won Outstanding Financial Management for Nu Chapter from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. Spring 2007 - Soror Sasha Mercedes '08 facilitated the First Annual Global Warming Awareness Initiative ("Feel the Heat") at Cornell University in April 2007 which won MTV's Break the Addiction Award and was featured on the front page of the Cornell Daily Sun. Sasha also won Program of the Month for April from the National Residence Hall Honorary for one of her programs during "Feel the Heat".

Chapter History

Though faced with many obstacles, four women on Cornell University's campus set out to make their dream become a reality. Dawn Brawley, Yadira Perez, Dorothy Rivera and Marcy Lopez all saw the need to bring an organization whose goals and aspirations were those of service to the community, leadership and equality for all women. They saw this and much more in Omega Phi Beta and on May 28th, 1999 created history as becoming the first Ivy League Chapter within the sorority. In the end, the hardships were welcomed because they learned that with perseverance, knowledge, valiance and heart anything is possible and nothing would stand in their way.

Chapter Cause: Child Welfare

Child Welfare was established as our chapter cause in the Fall of 1999. We realized that our children are our future and we must preserve their innocence and well being for as long as we can. Unfortunately, many children grow up in unthinkable conditions or situations and it is our obligation to nurture and guide them to a successful life. Nu Chapter has taken the forefront in educating, empowering and enriching the children of Ithaca through our annual Crayon Carnival. It is a day of fun and education for the kids and their parents to enjoy. We also work closely throughout the year with the Tompkins County Child Sexual Abuse Project by donating our time, goods, and money to helping the children regain their innocence. These are a couple of the many events and programs we uphold throughout the academic year and welcome all who are willing to help us in our cause.
