Delta Chapter
Est. 1992
Chapter History
In the fall semester of 1991, a group of women at Binghamton University, unsatisfied with what the organizations on campus had to offer, longed for one that would properly represent their ideals and beliefs. It was during this semester that these women attended an informational hosted by the Alpha Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Here these women met several of the Founders and members of the Alpha Chapter. The founding line took the road less traveled and began the journey, which would culminate in the formation of the Delta Chapter in the spring of 1992.
Chapter Cause: Breast Cancer
Gloria E. Acevedo, mother of Delta Chapter Soror Christina Diaz, was
diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988. Ms. Acevedo, a single mother and
Registered Nurse, faced this harsh reality by confiding in her daughters for
support. Through this experience, the sorors of Delta Chapter decided to
take a stand. In the Spring of 1998, they began their efforts to educate
their campus community about the signs of breast cancer and the importance
of being health conscious. Today, Ms. Acevedo is a survivor and lives to
tell her story.
