Buffalo Alumnae Colony
Est. 2007
Colony History
In the fall of 2005, Roselyn Cabrera developed the idea to compose an alumnae association in Buffalo, New York. Roselyn, originally from the Bronx, New York, attended college at the State University of New York College at Buffalo. She became a member of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated in the spring of 2002. Upon graduating, Roselyn decided to reside in the city of Buffalo. As the years passed, more alumnae members of Omega Phi Beta were surfacing in the Buffalo area. Roselyn Cabrera expressed her vision of an alumnae association to alumnae sisters also living in Buffalo. At the time though, there were not enough members in the area to execute this vision.
In fall of 2007, the start of the alumnae association Roselyn envisioned became a reality. Additional sunflowers moved into the Buffalo area and with the help of Erica Acosta, April Rodriguez, Erica Mazzini, and Maria Jaramillo, an alumnae association was created. These five professional women, all from various undergraduate chapters, envisioned the same idea, which was to continue to strive towards our motto: "Sirviendo y educando a traves de nuestra diversidad"/"Serving and educating through our diversity."
