Alpha Delta: Rochester Alumnae Chapter
Est. 2004
Chapter History
In 1998, the first member of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. moved to the Greater Rochester area with her husband after being recruited by the Rochester City School District to be a bilingual teacher (Zunilda M.).
In the Spring of 1999, four women extended the charter of Eta Chapter to include the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology. In July of 1999, another sorority member (Monica S.) moved to Rochester to work at the University of Rochester. In the Spring of 2001, an alumni (Yvelisse R.) of the University of Buffalo that lived in Rochester was initiated into our sisterhood. In 2002, we gained three alumni from the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology (Lanyn P., Shonte F., and Frederique T.). With increase of alumni presence, the dream to create an alumnae colony began and has continuously developed.
The Alumnae in the Greater Rochester are are excited about the service they will provide to their community as a collective body representing Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. We hope to provide continued guidance and support to the undergraduate chapters in Rochester and the surrounding Western NY areas
Chapter Cause
The Alumnae of Rochester have chosen Leadership Development as our colony cause. We realize the importance of serving and educating through our diversity, and by serving as leaders within our community we can do so more effectively. We support the programs that assist community members in becoming better leaders to contribute toward a more positive society.
